Wegovy Tracker — Weekly Shots, Dose Steps & Missed Doses
A calm way to track weekly Wegovy injections, the 4-week dose steps, injection sites and how you feel, with the label's missed-dose rules in plain words.
Worth remembering
- Wegovy injection is once weekly, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food.
- The label's starting schedule moves up every 4 weeks — 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 1.7 mg — before a maintenance dose your prescriber chooses.
- If a dose is missed, the label's rule turns on one number — whether your next scheduled dose is more or less than 2 days away.
- Rotating the injection site each week is in the label, so log the site, not just the dose.
- Your prescriber, not an app, decides when your dose changes.
It's Sunday evening, the pen is in the fridge, and you're trying to remember whether last week's shot went in your left thigh or your stomach. Was that week three on 0.5 mg, or week four? Wegovy only asks for your attention once a week, which is exactly why the details slip.
This page is about keeping those details straight — what the Wegovy label actually expects from a weekly routine, and what's worth writing down so the weeks don't blur.
What does a Wegovy week actually look like?
The label keeps it simple. Wegovy injection is given once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without meals. It goes under the skin of your stomach, thigh or upper arm, and the label asks you to rotate the injection site with each dose.
That's the whole routine. But the label also builds in a slow climb in dose, a rule for missed doses, and a rule for changing your shot day — and each of those depends on you knowing what happened last week.
How do the dose steps work?
The label starts everyone low and moves up every four weeks, to give your stomach time to adjust. The schedule it lists for the injection:
| Weeks | Weekly dose |
|---|---|
| 1–4 | 0.25 mg |
| 5–8 | 0.5 mg |
| 9–12 | 1 mg |
| 13–16 | 1.7 mg |
| 17 onward | Maintenance dose set by your prescriber |
For weight reduction in adults, the label lists 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg (recommended) as the maintenance dose. The current label also allows a higher 7.2 mg weekly dose for adults who have tolerated 2.4 mg for at least four weeks when further weight reduction is clinically indicated.
The label also says that if a step isn't tolerated, the prescriber can consider delaying the next increase by four weeks. So the table is a default, not a promise. Your own calendar may run slower, and that's normal. It's also why "I'm on week 10" means less than "I've had four doses at 1 mg."
What if I miss a shot?
This is where a log pays for itself. The label's rule for one missed dose turns on a single question: how far away is your next scheduled dose?
- More than 2 days (48 hours) away — take the missed dose as soon as you can.
- Less than 2 days away — skip it, and take your next dose on your usual day.
If two or more doses in a row are missed, the label says the dose climb may need to restart lower to reduce stomach side effects. That's a conversation for your prescriber before your next shot, not a decision to make alone.
Why track injection sites at all?
Because the label asks you to rotate them, and memory is bad at "which side did I use three weeks ago?" Logging the site turns rotation into a quick glance at the last few entries.
It also helps if a spot gets sore or red. You'll know which shot it was and how long ago, which is what your care team will ask.
Which pen am I using — and does it matter?
The current label covers more than one Wegovy injection presentation — single-dose pens, single-dose syringes, and a multi-dose FlexTouch pen — and says patients should get training for the specific one they're prescribed, plus fresh training if it changes. It's worth noting which one you have in your log, especially if a pharmacy fill switches it.
The same label also covers Wegovy tablets, a once-daily pill. That's a different routine entirely, with its own rules. If you're considering it or have switched, our Wegovy pill tracker walks through the daily version.
What we'd track
If we were setting up a Wegovy log from scratch, this is what we'd capture each week:
- Shot date and time. The date powers the 48-hour missed-dose rule. The time is optional, but it helps you notice drift.
- Dose and step. Write the mg, and how many doses you've had at it. That's how you'll answer "how long have you been on 1 mg?" accurately.
- Injection site. Stomach, thigh or upper arm, and which side — so rotation is something you can see, not something you have to remember.
- How you felt over the next few days. A one-line note on nausea, appetite or energy, tied to the dose day. Patterns after a step-up are much easier to talk about when they're written down.
- Weight, if it's part of your plan. A trend over weeks is more useful than any single morning.
Holt does this in one place: weekly reminders with a Live Activity on your lock screen, injection-site logging so you can see your recent spots, side effects lined up against dose days, and a doctor-visit report you can bring to appointments.
Track your weekly Wegovy shots with HoltWhatever you use, the goal is the same: when your prescriber asks how the last step went, you have an answer that isn't a guess.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change my Wegovy shot day?
The Medication Guide says you can change the day of the week as long as your last dose was 2 or more days before. Log the switch so your weekly rhythm doesn't look like a missed dose later.
What happens if I miss two Wegovy doses in a row?
The label says that if 2 or more consecutive doses are missed, the dose escalation may need to restart at a lower dose. That's a call for your prescriber, so contact them before your next shot.
Does it matter what time of day I inject Wegovy?
No — the label says any time of day, with or without meals. Many people pick a time they'll remember, but the weekday matters more than the hour.
Is 2.4 mg the highest Wegovy dose?
For weight reduction in adults, the current label lists 2.4 mg as the recommended maintenance dose, with an option to go up to 7.2 mg once weekly for people who have tolerated 2.4 mg for at least 4 weeks and need further weight reduction. Whether that applies to you is your prescriber's decision.
