Wegovy Pill Tracker — Daily Dose, Water & the 30-Minute Wait
Track the once-daily Wegovy pill — empty-stomach mornings, up to 4 oz of water, the 30-minute wait and 30-day dose steps — with the label's rules in plain words.
Worth remembering
- One tablet a day, in the morning, on an empty stomach, with up to 4 ounces of water and nothing else.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else or taking other oral medicines.
- The label's steps run 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg, then 25 mg, each for 30 days before the next.
- If you miss a tablet, the label says skip it and take the next one the following day — never two in one day.
- Keep tablets in the original closed bottle; the label says it protects them from moisture.
It's 6:40 a.m. You took your tablet with a small glass of water, and now you're standing by the kettle doing mental arithmetic. Was that 6:25 or 6:35? Can you have coffee yet? On a weekly shot you'd never think about the clock. On the Wegovy pill, the first half hour of your morning is part of the dose.
The pill version of Wegovy was approved by the FDA in December 2025, and the label that covers it is very specific about how it's taken. Here's what that looks like day to day, and what's worth logging.
How exactly do you take the Wegovy pill?
The label's instructions are short, and every line matters:
- Take one tablet a day, in the morning, on an empty stomach.
- Swallow it with water only — up to 4 ounces (about half a cup). No other liquids.
- Swallow it whole. Don't split, crush, chew or dissolve it.
- Then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other oral medicines.
- Never take more than one tablet a day.
The label explains these rules by pointing to how the tablet is absorbed. In practice, that means the routine around the tablet — what time, how much water, how long until breakfast — is worth treating as part of the dose itself.
So what does a good morning look like?
Something like this. Tablet goes down first thing, before coffee, tea, juice or your other morning pills. You note the time. Thirty minutes later, you're free to eat, drink and take everything else.
If you take other oral medicines in the morning, it helps to line them up after the wait rather than alongside the tablet. The label also notes that semaglutide slows stomach emptying, which can affect how some other oral medicines are absorbed. If any of yours need careful monitoring, mention the Wegovy pill to your prescriber or pharmacist.
How do the dose steps work on the pill?
Like the injection, the pill starts low and climbs, to give your stomach time to adjust. The steps are counted in days rather than weeks:
| Days | Once-daily tablet |
|---|---|
| 1–30 | 1.5 mg |
| 31–60 | 4 mg |
| 61–90 | 9 mg |
| 91 onward | 25 mg (maintenance) |
The label says that if a step isn't tolerated, your prescriber can consider delaying the next increase. It also says that if 25 mg isn't tolerated, switching to the 1.7 mg weekly injection is an option. Each new step usually arrives as a new bottle, so the bottle you're holding is one of the easiest things to log.
What if I miss a day?
The pill's missed-dose rule is simpler than the injection's. If you miss a tablet, skip it and take your next one the following day. No doubling up, no catching up later in the afternoon.
What a log adds is visibility. One missed morning is a non-event. A run of them, especially around a dose step, is something your prescriber would want to know about.
Can I switch between the shot and the pill?
The label describes both directions, for adults using Wegovy for weight reduction or cardiovascular risk reduction:
- Injection to pill. From the 2.4 mg weekly injection, the 25 mg tablet starts one week after the last injection.
- Pill to injection. From the 25 mg tablet, the 2.4 mg weekly injection starts the day after the last tablet.
Switching is your prescriber's decision. If it happens, log the last dose of the old form and the first dose of the new one, so your history doesn't show a mystery gap. Our Wegovy tracker covers the weekly injection routine.
How should I store the tablets?
The label says to keep Wegovy tablets in the original closed bottle until you take one, and not to move them into any other container, because the bottle protects them from moisture. It lists room-temperature storage of 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). That rules out the usual weekly pill organizer.
What we'd track
For a daily tablet with a timing rule, these are the things we'd log:
- Time you took the tablet. This is the starting gun for your 30-minute wait.
- Time of your first food or drink. If mornings are rushed, you'll see how often the wait is getting squeezed.
- Dose step and day count. "Day 47, 4 mg" answers most questions about where you are on the schedule.
- Missed mornings. One gap isn't a problem, but a pattern is worth raising.
- How you felt that day. A quick note on nausea, appetite or energy, especially in the first week of each new step.
Holt handles daily pill doses as well as weekly shots: a morning reminder and a Live Activity on your lock screen, a quick log of when you took the tablet, side effects lined up against dose days, and a doctor-visit report for your next appointment.

Frequently asked questions
Can I take the Wegovy pill with coffee?
Not at the same time. The label says to take it with water only (up to 4 ounces), then wait at least 30 minutes before any other drink, including coffee.
What if I forget my Wegovy pill in the morning?
The label says to skip the missed dose and take your next tablet the following day. Don't take two tablets in one day.
Can I switch from Wegovy injections to the pill?
The label describes a switch from the 2.4 mg weekly injection to the 25 mg daily tablet, starting the tablet one week after the last injection. Your prescriber decides whether and when that's right for you.
Can I put my Wegovy pills in a weekly pill organizer?
The label says to keep tablets in the original closed bottle until you take one, and not to store them in any other container, because they need protecting from moisture.
